epx profile

A profile keeps the settings of one API key: its tenant, API URL and client ID, and a default site and language. Profiles are in epx/config.json in your configuration directory (~/.config on Linux, ~/Library/Application Support on macOS, %AppData% on Windows), which only you may read; the client secret of each is in the OS keychain (the macOS Keychain, the Windows Credential Manager or a Secret Service on Linux), never in that file. A command uses the profile that --profile names, else the one EPX_PROFILE names, else the default (epx profile use), but only where no EMPORIX_ variable is set: those give the whole API key, never mixed with a profile’s. --tenant overrides the profile’s tenant. These commands change only the configuration file and the keychain: they send nothing to Emporix. Command: epx profile [flags], epx profile [command] Flags: only the global flags. Subcommands

epx profile add

Add a profile, or replace one, with its client secret in the OS keychain. Adds the profile NAME, or replaces the profile of that name, and stores its client secret in the OS keychain. On a terminal, epx asks for the secret without showing it; otherwise it reads the first line of standard input. It never takes the secret from a flag. Where no profile is the default, as for the first one, it becomes the default. Nothing is sent to Emporix: epx auth status with --profile NAME checks the API key. Command: epx profile add NAME [flags] Flags
  • --api-url <string>
    API host (default https://api.emporix.io).
  • --client-id <string>
Client ID of the API key (required).
  • --language <language>
Default language of localized table text, for commands that take --language.
  • --site <site>
Default site code, for commands that need a site.
  • --tenant <string>
Emporix tenant of the API key (required).
Also takes the global flags. Examples

epx profile list

List the profiles. Lists the profiles and which one is the default. Client secrets are never shown. Command: epx profile list [flags] Flags
  • --columns <names>
Print only these columns of table and csv, in this order: comma-separated names (any case) among NAME, DEFAULT, TENANT, CLIENT ID, API URL, SITE, LANGUAGE.
  • --no-headers
Print table and csv without the header row.
  • -o, --output <format>
Output format: table, json, yaml or csv (csv: the table’s rows; json and yaml: the whole response). Default: table.
Also takes the global flags.

epx profile remove

Remove a profile and its client secret. Removes the profile NAME and deletes its client secret from the OS keychain. On a terminal, epx asks first; --yes removes it without asking, as scripts must. Removing the default profile leaves no default. Where the keychain cannot delete the secret, the profile is removed all the same, and the error names the keychain entry (service epx, account NAME) that still holds it. Command: epx profile remove NAME [flags] Flags
  • --yes
Remove without asking (required without a terminal).
Also takes the global flags.

epx profile show

Show a profile and whether its client secret is stored. Shows the settings of the profile NAME and whether the OS keychain holds its client secret. The secret itself is never shown. Command: epx profile show NAME [flags] Flags
  • --columns <names>
Print only these columns of table and csv, in this order: comma-separated names (any case) among NAME, DEFAULT, TENANT, CLIENT ID, API URL, SITE, LANGUAGE, CLIENT SECRET.
  • --no-headers
Print table and csv without the header row.
  • -o, --output <format>
Output format: table, json, yaml or csv (csv: the table’s rows; json and yaml: the whole response). Default: table.
Also takes the global flags.

epx profile use

Make a profile the default. Makes the profile NAME the default: the one a command uses without --profile and EPX_PROFILE. Command: epx profile use NAME [flags] Flags: only the global flags.
